Participants are invited to attend the Welcome Reception, which will take place at Villa Ciani. This event opens the 41st edition of the EFA Annual Meeting, and it is an excellent opportunity to network, meet old friends and colleagues, and to make new ones as the program begins. The Welcome Reception will showcase typical Swiss culture featuring local Ticinese cuisine and traditional Swiss music.
 

Participation details

The participation is included in the registration fee of the EFA Annual Meeting. Participants are welcome to check-in for the Annual Meeting before attending the Welcome Reception in order to receive their participant badge and other conference materials. Check-in will take place at the information desk at Palazzo dei Congressi. Participants are welcome to bring their spouses/partners/guests to this event.
 

Location

The Welcome Reception will take place at Villa Ciani located next to Palazzo dei Congressi and facing Lugano lake. Address: Via Canova, 6900 Lugano, Switzerland. In case of rain, the Welcome Reception will be moved to Palazzo dei Congressi.

The Villa

The villa dates back to the 19th century, and it belonged to the Ciani family who played an important role in the local political and social life. During the Risorgimento, Villa Ciani was considered a center of libertarian and progressive ideas and many Italians found a safe refuge inside the Villa walls. In the early 20th century, Villa Ciani and its annexed Park became property of the city of Lugano and today, because of its cultural influence and importance, it is home to the Museum of Fine Arts, which hosts several international exhibitions.
